Amplifying our clients’ voices: Hale
As competition and costs increase across the construction industry, value engineering post tender is rising too. It’s an issue that causes significant project delays and why our client, Hale, wanted to proactively highlight the matter through the media.
Specialists in complex, high-quality construction projects, Hale is led by Christian Hale who oversees all the company’s operations.
Our team worked with Christian to develop a thought leadership article providing an honest and informative insight into the impact of value engineering. In the piece, he also offered expert advice on how to prevent budget problems from the outset and the actions needed to maintain a client’s vision.
As well as successfully placing the article in key trade media, including Architects Datafile (ADF), we secured a podcast opportunity on Builders’ Voices – a collaboration between Housebuilder & Developer magazine and the Federation of Mater Builders (FMB). This platform provided another opportunity for Christian to discuss the perils of value engineering post tender, how to manage clients’ expectations to minimise cost cutting, and the need to reduce extra costs such as urban parking suspensions.
Commenting on the outcome, Christian said: “Cost saving exercises aren’t new, but they are becoming increasingly challenging and detrimental to projects. There has to be a better way forward and that’s why I wanted to proactively express my views and encourage more conversations about how we can drive positive change.
“The CME team helped to craft my messages and get the article noticed by our key target audience.
“The podcast proved an effective way of discussing the matter in depth and has been well received. One client contacted me directly to say it was really good to hear me talk about my philosophy and they were reassured they chose the right partner for their house build.”
